Assembling all these works precisely requires them to be entirely stationary until they are complete. Inevitably there is a terrifying moment at the end of days of assembly when I find out if I have made any mistakes. Halfway through the construction I realized I was creating two helixes that counter rotated (rather than revolving around one another as intended). In the panic I decided to mirror the motion halfway along it’s length. What emerged was a slightly schizophrenic and optically confusing motion that makes more sense in the shadows it casts. Contra-Contra is a rather humorous reminder, to me, not to be so sure I have it all worked out in my head.
